We also specialise in the removal of asbestos contamination from within ventilation systems. Where asbestos has been installed or removed incorrectly close to ventilation inlets or return air grilles, there is a very high risk that asbestos fibres can be drawn into the ventilation system. If asbestos goes undetected in a ventilation system there is a significant probability that a conventional cleaning operation will disturb and release asbestos fibres into the ductwork system, creating a health risk to all the building occupants.
All systems surveyed and/or cleaned are recorded and verified on our bespoke data base system VMP (Ventilation Management Programme). This system has been specifically designed to ensure that when we are asked to survey and verify the condition or cleanliness of your ventilation systems, we will provide you with a detailed report with all industry compliant information required.
Grease extraction duct work if not kept clean poses a Substantial Fire Risk. Grease is a potential fuel for a fire to spread throughout an extract system and into other areas of the building.
The London Fire Brigade sources report that there is a kitchen extract ductwork fire on average every 9 days in Greater London alone, and insurers may not always pay a claim if the duct system was found to be the cause of the fire spreading. Especially if it could be demonstrated that the system was not properly cleaned in accordance with their policy conditions or warranties.
Our work adheres to the regulations and guidance of BS EN 15780:2011 Ventilation for buildings-Ductwork-Cleanliness of ventilation systems, TR/19: Internal Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems, published by B&ES, and HTM 03-01: Health Technical Memorandum: specialised ventilation for healthcare premises.
